Sometimes I do fan characters but at the end my heart always end up in the original character pile, So far I had created so many character templates, and writing stories for my own original characters and worlds. Hopefully they get recognition though, because obviously like you stated original stuff don't sell as much compared to revamp of the same already done stories.
